This will be submitted to His Holiness the Dalai Lama for final confirmation.

Considering the urgent and crucial situations inside Tibet and the situation in the world in general, His Holiness the Dalai Lama has called for an emergency general meeting, as enshrined in the article 59 of the Charter of the Tibetans-in-Exile.

The draft proposal was put forward by the Prime Minister of the government-in-exile, Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche and supported by Mrs. Dolma Gyari, the deputy speaker of Tibetan parliament-in-exile.

After a broad discussion and reflection over the proposal, the Tibetan Parliament in-exile unanimously approved that the emergency General meeting would be held from 17 - 22 November 2008 at the Tibetan Children's Village School (TCV) in Dharamshala.

The heads of the three independent bodies of the CTA will attend the inaugural and final day of the emergency meeting.

During the first four days of the meeting, ten or fifteen small committees will organize to deliberate the proposal and each committee will submit their recommendations to the emergency general meeting on the fifth day. Based on these recommendations, a final resolution will be passed.
